Textile Minimalism

Pioneering Sustainable Action? (2017-2020)

Heike Derwanz

Minimalists react against the ever-growing tendency for consumption, for example of textiles. They perform and circulate practices of reduction and non-consumption, based on diverse values such as cost, aesthetics or sustainability. This DFG-funded study aims firstly to explore clothing practices at home as a research field of sustainable everyday practices. It secondly analyses these practices according to their potential to change both society and markets.
